PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Feng Wei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Resnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wei kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Tekken DR - Snow Castle. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Feng Wei!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brock Resnar!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Resnar scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Resnar lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wei circles away quickly and effectively.
Resnar throws a right hand that Wei ducks under and follows up with a left that Wei also avoids with ease.
Wei stuffs the takedown.
Resnar tries to clinch there but Wei circles away.
Resnar throws a jab but it's blocked by Wei.
Resnar tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wei swivels and escapes.
Wei walks into a jab.
Resnar paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Resnar has a takedown stuffed.
Feng Wei has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brock Resnar.
Resnar lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wei circles away quickly and effectively.
Resnar throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Wei seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Resnar for as long as he can get away with.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Resnar can do anything to dispel that myth.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Wei throws a head kick but Resnar moves out of range.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Resnar, as that shot connected.
Wei throws a quick inside leg kick.
Wei uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Resnar.
Brock Resnar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Resnar closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Resnar thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Wei works his way to full guard. Good work.
Wei is pulling down on Resnar's head. It's preventing any offense from Resnar, at least for the moment.
Resnar is looking to work some ground and pound but Wei has wrist control.

Resnar thows a big elbow that misses.
Wei pulls Resnar in close to his closed guard and prevents Resnar from doing any damage or advancing position.
Wei is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wei bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Resnar's head backwards.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Wei content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Wei with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Wei's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Resnar wants to improve his position but instead Wei has moved into half guard.

Resnar flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Resnar is breathing heavily.

Wei lands with a punch from half guard.
Wei has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Wei is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Resnar is trying to maintain the position but Wei is very close to passing his half guard.
Resnar is looking to get back to is feet but Wei passes into side control.

Wei lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Wei landing strikes.
Resnar tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Wei breaks from Resnar's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Resnar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wei. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wei content just to control the position here.
Resnar tries to hold on but Wei pushes him away.

Resnar throwing hammer fists to the chest of Wei. What's that going to do exactly?
Wei avoids the attempt from Resnar to control.

Wei is in the full mount, landing strikes.
A big strike lands for Wei! That's really hurt Resnar and he's turned his back - Wei keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Wei Jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Feng Wei!
