Masilievich is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: David Bowie - Let's Dance. Nicholai Masilievich has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Steel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nicholai Masilievich!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksandr Martynov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masilievich shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Steel pinned against the cage. Steel gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Steel tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Masilievich drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Steel wants to control but Masilievich postures up.

Masilievich is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Steel knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Masilievich is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Steel is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Masilievich tries for a kimura but Steel is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Masilievich taking a break here but Steel is having none of it and regains half guard.
Steel tries to roll over but Masilievich keeps him under control.

Masilievich is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Steel defends it well.
Steel flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Steel is trying to stand up here but Masilievich is controlling him well.
Steel is looking for a sweep. Masilievich is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Steel has one foot on Masilievich's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Steel throws a right and a left that both miss.
Steel throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Steel is breathing heavily.
Some bone on bone action there as Masilievich checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Masilievich closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Masilievich wants to work for an arm triangle but Steel is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Masilievich is keen to just control but Steel is a slippery customer.

Masilievich is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Steel pushes Masilievich off looking to stand but Masilievich dives back in and keeps control.

Masilievich wants to work for an arm triangle but Steel is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Steel swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Masilievich drives through with a takedown into guard.
Masilievich wants to control from the top but Steel keeps moving.
Masilievich content to stall in guard here.
Steel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Masilievich on the ground.
Steel keeping moving, preventing Masilievich from controlling successfully.

Masilievich is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Masilievich drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Steel dives on top into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nicholai Masilievich dominated that round.

Steel misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Masilievich.
Masilievich shoots in for a takedown but Steel shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Steel throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Masilievich shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Steel is looking to get to half guard.

Masilievich goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Steel turns into him and now he's in Masilievich's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Steel got a little sloppy there for a moment and Masilievich has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Steel has managed to get both his arms back between Masilievich's legs - danger averted.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Masilievich looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Masilievich pulls Steel in close to prevent any damage.

Masilievich working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Steel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Steel manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Masilievich is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
