Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Almeida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Almeida comes to the cage accompanied by SSS- The Cult. BJ Penn will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ricardo Almeida!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn tries to bum rush Almeida with a series of wild strikes but Almeida uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
No joy there for Penn, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Almeida shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Penn's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Almeida thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Penn looking for a sweep. Not yet Penn, not yet.
Almeida is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Penn is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Almeida defends well.
Penn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Almeida gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Penn not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Almeida showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Penn.
Penn rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Almeida moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Almeida lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Penn circles away quickly and effectively.
A combination from Penn does no damage.
Penn gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Almeida stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Penn swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Almeida drops back looking for a leg! Penn is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Penn manages to kick Almeida off! Almeida jumps back into Penn's guard.
Penn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Almeida is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Almeida is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Almeida prevents Penn from getting back to his feet.
Almeida stands and steps away. Penn gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Horrible takedown by Almeida or perhaps it was just good defense by Penn which made him look bad.

and Almeida counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Almeida drops back, looking for a kneebar! Penn looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Penn looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Penn!

The referee stands the fighters back up. Ricardo Almeida just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Penn throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Almeida.
Almeida shoots in but Penn avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Penn looks to land a combination. Almeida sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

It looks like Ricardo Almeida has been cut.
Penn swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Almeida shoots in but no luck this time.
Penn misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Penn throws a left and a right that both miss
so Almeida counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Penn wants to stand up but Almeida is controlling him.

Penn is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Almeida is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Almeida tries to bench press Penn off him but Penn keeps the position.
Penn thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Almeida manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Ricardo Almeida overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Penn is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
