PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between CHUCCK Lidell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ramazan Mezhidov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, CHUCCK Lidell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ramazan Mezhidov!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Danga de danga de dang - Mezhidov scores with a four punch combination!
Mezhidov lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Mezhidov.
Lidell takes one on the chin but seems OK.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mezhidov misses with a series of wild punches.

Lidell moves into range and clinches up with Mezhidov.
Mezhidov is trying to drag Lidell to the mat but Lidell just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Mezhidov loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Lidell pulls Mezhidov in close to prevent any damage.
Lidell is looking to stand up but Mezhidov isn't so interested in that idea.

Mezhidov wants to control from the top but Lidell keeps moving.

Mezhidov gets to his feet - Lidell follows without any prompting.

Lidell clinches up with Mezhidov and pushes him back against the cage.

Lidell might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Mezhidov controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Mezhidov wanted to stand there but Lidell had control of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mezhidov is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ramazan Mezhidov dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Mezhidov lands a glancing blow to the side of Lidell's head.
A head kick misses from Lidell.

Mezhidov fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Mezhidov shoots for a double leg takedown but Lidell sprawls well. He's pushed Mezhidov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Mezhidov swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mezhidov tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Lidell uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Mezhidov.
CHUCCK Lidell is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mezhidov misses with a hook. Lidell ducked under it nicely.

Lidell forces Mezhidov back against the cage and clinches.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Lidell takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Mezhidov jumps guard but Lidell stands there with Mezhidov around his waist. Mezhidov gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
CHUCCK Lidell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ramazan Mezhidov.

Lidell throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Mezhidovs head.
Mezhidov is trying to break the clinch but Lidell has him pressed against the cage.

Lidell gets control of Mezhidov's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lidell will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

That was a close second round but I would say that CHUCCK Lidell will probably get the nod.

Lidell moves in looking to clinch but Mezhidov pushes him off.
Lidell takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Mezhidov goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Mezhidov cracks Lidell with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

A frustrated look appears on Mezhidov's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Mezhidov has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Lidell uses from the top position.

Mezhidov wants to get back to his feet but Lidell is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Lidell drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lidell jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mezhidov misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Lidell darts in and clinches Mezhidov up against the cage.
Lidell tries to pull guard but Mezhidov won't allow it.
Mezhidov is looking to break free of the clinch but Lidell has double underhooks.
Lidell is working for takedown but Mezhidov is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for CHUCCK Lidell. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mezhidov wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Lidell has him pressed against the cage.
Mezhidov tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Lidell gets control of Mezhidov's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lidell will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
