The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hawkins has managed to clinch.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Poirot is fighting off a takedown attempt but Hawkins is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Poirot to the mat. Poirot regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Hawkins makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hawkins drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Poirot dives on top into guard.

Poirot wants to control from the top but Hawkins keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Poirot looking to sit in guard and control but Hawkins gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Hawkins stands up and waves to Poirot to follow him.
Hawkins's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Hawkins duly obliges.
BC Hawkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hawkins is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
