Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sandy Hawkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hawkins's entrance music is Enter Sandman. A fine choice. Steven Knight is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sandy Hawkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, Steven Knight!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawkins tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Hawkins closes the distance and pushes Knight back into the cage.
The referee is keeping an eye on Hawkins - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Knight misses with a punch on the inside.
Knight throws a punch but it's blocked by Hawkins.
Knight content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Knight escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hawkins uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Knight.

Hawkins rushes Knight and presses him up against the cage.
Knight throws a knee to the head but misses.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Hawkins as Knight tries to tie him up.
Hawkins pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Knight avoids a wild elbow strike from Hawkins.
Hawkins tries to land knees in the clinch but Knight avoids the damage to the body.
Hawkins takes a knee to the side of the body.

Knight lands a hook that snaps the head of Hawkins backwards.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Knight has had enough of the clinch but Hawkins keeps him there for the moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hawkins is trying to control the position but Knight postures up.
Knight working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Hawkins looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Knight lands with a straight right. Hawkins didn't see that one coming.
Knight wants to clinch

and Hawkins counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Knight!
Hawkins lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Hawkins trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Knight is desperately trying to improve his position but Hawkins has a good base and remains in mount.
Hawkins takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Knight tries to lock up and control but Hawkins gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Knight is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Hawkins is staying active.
Hawkins throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Knight because Hawkins loaded up on that one.

Hawkins looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Knight tries to hold on but Hawkins pushes him away.
Knight is working to get back to half guard.
Hawkins wants to take his opponent's back but Knight doesn't allow it.
Knight is desperately trying to improve his position but Hawkins has a good base and remains in mount.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Knight is wriggling around trying to escape.

Knight somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!
Hawkins thows a body shot but no joy.
Knight fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hawkins manages to avoid it.
Knight fails with an attempt to clinch.
Hawkins swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Knight scores with a nice strike.

and Hawkins holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Knight lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Hawkins backwards.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Knight tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hawkins wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Hawkins is pressing down on Knight's thigh, looking to free his foot. Knight is holding on for now.

Hawkins avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Knight lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Hawkins takes one on the button.
Horrible takedown by Hawkins or perhaps it was just good defense by Knight which made him look bad.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hawkins takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Hawkins misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Knight is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hawkins.

Knight takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Hawkins closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Hawkins stops Knight from getting back to his feet.
Knight is trying to maintain the position but Hawkins is very close to passing his half guard.
Knight tries to get to full guard but Hawkins has control of the leg.
Knight tries to kick Hawkins off but Hawkins keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Sandy Hawkins overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Knight wants to control but Hawkins is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Hawkins with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Knight is looking to improve his position.
