PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rob Ryder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Murple Pan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rob Ryder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Murple Pan!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Radbod Blank and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pan fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Pan tries to clinch up but Ryder circles away and keeps his distance.
Pan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ryder sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pan somewhat.
Pan moves in looking to clinch but Ryder pushes him off.
Pan fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ryder tries to bum rush Pan with a series of wild strikes but Pan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Pan misses with a takedown attempt - Ryder sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Pan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ryder is fending him off so far but Pan persists. Nope, Ryder circles away and we're back to standing.
Rob Ryder has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Murple Pan.
Pan shoots for a takedown but Ryder saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ryder fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Pan shoots in for a double leg but Ryder sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Pan should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Pan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ryder fails with an attempt to clinch.

Ryder throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pan's waist but Pan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ryder off to one side.
Ryder shoots in and drives through. Pan sprawls well.
Ryder looks to land a right hand but Pan moved out of range.
Pan misses with a body kick.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Pan has eaten all the pies!
Pan misses with a few strikes there.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Pan keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ryder's efforts to push away.
The referee calls for Ryder to work.
Pan blocks an elbow strike from Ryder.
Ryder wants to break the clinch but can't.
Pan is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ryder pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Pan looks gassed!
Ryder wants to get back to striking at distance but Pan won't allow it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pan fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Pan prevents Ryder from breaking the clinch.

Pan decides to pull guard.
Pan wants to stand and escape but Ryder is having none of it.
Ryder wants to pass the guard but Pan is keeping the position.
Ryder is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Ryder's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Pan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ryder can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Ryder wants to get up but he can't break Pan's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Pan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Pan is trying to control the position but Ryder postures up.
Ryder knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pan on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ryder throws and elbow that misses. Pan uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ryder's guard. Nice move by Pan!

Pan wants to stand but Ryder is controlling his posture from full guard.
Pan throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ryder works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Ryder closes the distance and pushes Pan back into the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ryder tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Ryder trying to stall but Pan improves his position.
Pan has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ryder avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Murple Pan will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Ryder throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ryder throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Pan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Pan stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Ryder has a takedown stuffed.
Ryder misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Rob Ryder is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ryder tries to clinch up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pan is looking to clinch.
Ryder stuffs the takedown attempt from Pan. Pan gets slowly back to his feet.
Pan works over Ryder's head and body with a nice combination.

Ryder is pressed up against the cage. Pan has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ryder down to the mat. Ryder avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Pan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ryder paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Pan shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ryder as he jumps to the side.

A frustrated look appears on Ryder's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Pan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ryder displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pan.
Ryder stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ryder wants it to stay on the feet.
Pan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ryder is fending him off so far but Pan persists. Nope, Ryder circles away and we're back to standing.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Rob Ryder will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Ryder shoots in looking for a takedown. Pan tries to sprawl out of it but Ryder keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ryder tries to clinch but Pan moves out of range.
Pan tried to score with a low kick but Ryder checks it.
Pan will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Ryder has clasped his hands together around Pan's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Ryder tries to advance to mount but Pan denies him.

Pan pushes Ryder away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Ryder gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Ryder tries to get to his feet but Pan is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Ryder in his guard.

Pan thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Pan looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Pan wants to stand and escape but Ryder is having none of it.
Pan striking from the bottom.
Ryder stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ryder takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rob Ryder showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Ryder has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
