Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, mark stevens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, jose austin!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
stevens throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around austin's waist but austin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing stevens off to one side.
stevens shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says austin as he avoids it easily.
mark stevens seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
austin throws a nice looking combination but stevens bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

austin feints and as stevens raises his hands in defense, austin changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

stevens looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

stevens had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. austin defends it easily.

stevens working for a triangle but austin defends it easily.

stevens is working an open guard so austin takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and austin counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by austin.

austin decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

austin shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches stevens napping and manages to drive through into side control!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

austin decides to take the fight back to the feet.

austin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. austin showed some decent athleticism there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

stevens shoots and misses

and austin counters with a shoot takedown. stevens fights it but they end up in guard.

stevens looking for a guillotine here but austin defends easily.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

austin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

stevens is looking for a sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

austin has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
austin misses with a wild body shot.
stevens gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and austin counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

stevens is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute austin jumps into side control!

austin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

austin decides to stand up, so the ref orders stevens to his feet.

austin gets the takedown into side control.

stevens is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

austin stands up and we're back to a striking position.
austin throws a right and a left that both miss.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
stevens has his takedown stuffed

and austin counters with a nice double leg into side control. stevens won't be happy with that.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

austin decides to stand back up. austin steps back and let's stevens get back to his feet.

austin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

jose austin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

stevens wants to improve his position but austin is controlling well.

stevens is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
stevens might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
stevens wants to get back to full guard but austin has mounted him!

stevens is trying to reverse the position but instead austin has taken his back - oops!
austin is riding his opponent, not letting stevens buck him off.
You can see the frustration on stevens's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
stevens breaks austin's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

stevens drops back, looking for a kneebar! austin looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. austin looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from austin!
stevens is looking for a sweep.
stevens looks to move to half guard but instead austin has passed into mount! Damn!
stevens tries to get back to half guard but can't.

austin get's back to his feet.

and austin counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by austin.

jose austin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well austin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
