The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Franklyn Lucas and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benz throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
River avoids the body shot from Benz.
Benz missing with a left hand there. River was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
River tries a head kick but it misses.
River tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Benz paws at him with a jab and circles away.

River buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A frustrated look appears on Benz's face as he tries to break the clinch.
River throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Benz blocks it with crossed arms.

Benz blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
River misses with an elbow over the top.
River tries to land a knee to the head but Benz blocks with his arms.
River is breathing heavily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Benz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Benz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Benz fakes high and swings low for a body shot but River manages to avoid it.
River throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Benz scores with a takedown into River's guard.
River has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Benz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

River wants to sweep but no luck.
Benz decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on River, up you get!

Benz takes a swing at River's ribcage but misses.
River fails with an attempt to clinch.

A punch lands to the side of River 's head but he takes it in his stride.
River doesn't manage to clinch there - Benz circles away.
River tries to close the distance and clinch up but Benz swats him away and circles back towards the center.
River throws a leg kick
and Benz counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Benz landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

River is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Benz pulls his head out easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Benz slips a nice elbow through River's hands, connecting with River's forehead.
River is rocked!
River wants to sweep but Benz has passed to side control!

Benz is putting a hurting on River here, landing some big shots from side control.
Benz decides to stand up, so the ref orders River to his feet.
Benz drives through with a takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Benz pushes down on River's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Benz looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
River is looking to get back to full guard here but Benz has managed to pass to side control instead.
River tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The referee warns River that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Benz breaks from River's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Oh River is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
River takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Benz's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
