The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Burns Jr had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Roberto is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Burns Jr Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Roberto's back instead.

Eugene Burns Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Roberto is trying to trip Burns Jr. He has hold of a leg but Burns Jr is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Roberto persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Burns Jr isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Roberto stacks Burns Jr on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Roberto!

Roberto decides to stand back up.
Burns Jr closes the distance and clinches up with Roberto, looking for a takedown. Burns Jr pushes Roberto against the cage but Roberto circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Roberto shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Roberto was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Roberto has control of Burns Jr's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Burns Jr regains control of the situation pretty easily.
