The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Fujiwara.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuraba bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Kuraba misses with a jab, cross combination.

Kuraba feints and as Simmons raises his hands in defense, Kuraba changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Simmons wants to improve his position but instead Kuraba has moved into half guard.
Simmons pushes Kuraba off looking to stand but Kuraba dives back in and keeps control.
Simmons manages to get to full guard.
Kuraba trying to control but Simmons is working from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

BOOM! Simmons connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kuraba is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Simmons postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kuraba looks a forlorn figure.
Kuraba wants to hold on but Simmons pushes him away.

and Kuraba counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Simmons's guard now.

Shutterfly Simmons overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kuraba stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Simmons swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kuraba loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Simmons is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kuraba is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Simmons uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Kuraba moves out of range as Simmons strikes.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Kuraba closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kuraba winds up and cracks Simmons with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Kuraba is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

That was a close second round but I would say that Shutterfly Simmons will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Kuraba rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Simmons moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kuraba shoots in but Simmons avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Simmons seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kuraba for as long as he can get away with.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
