PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sylvester Terkey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the ring it seems that James Miller has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily James Miller seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, James Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sylvester Terkey!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, John Kavanagh and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Terkey looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Miller is fending him off so far but Terkey persists. Nope, Miller circles away and we're back to standing.

Terkey closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Miller did well to prevent Terkey getting side control.
Miller pushes Terkey off looking to stand but Terkey dives back in and keeps control.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Terkey working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Terkey has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Terkey is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Miller wants to control but Terkey is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Terkey drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Terkey jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Miller has control of Terkey's left arm, preventing Terkey from doing any damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Terkey drops back looking for a leg! Miller is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Miller manages to kick Terkey off! Terkey jumps back into Miller's guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Terkey gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Terkey avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Miller thows a big elbow that misses.

Terkey is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Miller is aware though and is defending well.

Terkey is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Miller trying to control the position from guard on top but Terkey is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Miller is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Terkey has managed to free his arm - good work.

Miller decides to stand and escape the position.
Terkey tries for a takedown but Miller sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Miller fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Terkey, pushing him back against the ropes.
Terkey is working for takedown but Miller is calmly controlling the position for now.
James Miller has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sylvester Terkey.
Terkey drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Miller tries to land knees in the clinch but Terkey avoids the damage to the body.
Terkey is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Miller pulls him back up using the underhooks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miller throws a right and a left that both miss.
Terkey doesn't manage to clinch there - Miller circles away.

Terkey darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Miller wants to get back to full guard.

Terkey thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Miller to regain full guard.

Terkey drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Miller manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Terkey has Miller in his guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Miller is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Miller chips away with some ground and pound.

Terkey escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Miller gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Terkey working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Miller doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Miller manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Terkey has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Miller should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Terkey has tightened it up now! Miller should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
