Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Von Materhorn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Von Materhorn has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Ryan Von Materhorn has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevens shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Von Materhorn but Von Materhorn pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Von Materhorn looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Von Materhorn shoots for a double leg takedown but Stevens sprawls well. He's pushed Von Materhorn's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Stevens lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Stevens throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

so Von Materhorn counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stevens working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Von Materhorn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Von Materhorn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Stevens really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Von Materhorn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Stevens tries to clinch up.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Stevens.
Ryan Von Materhorn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Stevens.
Stevens tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Stevens tries to clinch but Von Materhorn is having none of it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Stevens throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Von Materhorn.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Von Materhorn shoots for a takedown but Stevens saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Stevens throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Von Materhorn's head.

Von Materhorn swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Stevens is now in Von Materhorn's guard. A big mistake from Von Materhorn there, giving up the dominant position!
Von Materhorn manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Stevens manages to get himself to full guard.

Von Materhorn throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Stevens works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Von Materhorn postures up in Stevens's guard and throws a big left but Stevens blocks it.
Von Materhorn connects with a couple of short punches.

Von Materhorn drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Stevens manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Von Materhorn has Stevens in his guard.
Von Materhorn could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Von Materhorn throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Stevens escapes and throws Von Materhorn's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Von Materhorn is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Von Materhorn is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Stevens has his hands clasped together but Von Materhorn extends an breaks Stevens's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Von Materhorn.
