PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frank Dux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Armenian Samoan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dux kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Blood Sport Theme Song. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Dux!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Armenian Samoan!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, John Roberts and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dux plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Samoan fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Dux is looking to clinch but Samoan is avoiding it.
Dux checks a leg kick.
Dux scores with a spinning back kick!
Samoan fails with a takedown attempt.
Samoan chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Dux can pounce on him.

Dux fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Dux shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Samoan manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Dux sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Samoan's guard.

Dux is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Samoan defends it well.
Dux not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Samoan wants to get back to his feet.
Samoan is looking to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Samoan slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Dux will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Dux slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Samoan is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Samoan tries to bench press Dux off him but Dux keeps the position.

Dux misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Samoan tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dux misses with the ground and pound.
Dux takes advantage of some sloppy striking from Samoan to pass into mount.
Dux is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Samoan can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Samoan really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Samoan is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Dux has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Dux is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Samoan is surviving well by controlling Dux's body position as best he can.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Dux lands a big shot there that rocks Samoan but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Samoan gets back to half guard.

Dux is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Dux seems to be looking for submissions.
Dux is breathing heavily.
Samoan tries to get to full guard but Dux has control of the leg.
Samoan is in trouble now - Dux has advanced to mount!
Samoan sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Dux dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Samoan shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Samoan showed some decent athleticism there.
Dux has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Samoan is working away from the top position though.
Dux is pressing down on Samoan's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Dux has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Samoan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Samoan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Dux tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Dux leaves Samoan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Samoan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Frank Dux has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Armenian Samoan.
Samoan is breathing heavily.
Dux throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Dux tries to clinch up but Samoan circles away and keeps his distance.

Samoan gets caught flat footed, as Dux shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Dux passes Samoan's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Samoan wants to stand back up but Dux manages to pass into side control.

Dux looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Frank Dux overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dux working away.
Samoan tries to bench press Dux off him but Dux keeps the position.
Dux works to advance to full mount. Samoan defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Samoan is trying desperately to improve position.
Dux landing strikes from the mount and Samoan is in trouble!
Dux fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Samoan keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Samoan is bucking up trying to escape but Dux cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Dux lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Samoan is desperately trying to improve his position but Dux has a good base and remains in mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dux scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Samoan is trying to escape the mount.
Dux fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!


Samoan is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A big strike lands for Dux! That's really hurt Samoan and he's turned his back - Dux keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Dux Jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Frank Dux!
