Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Melton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shikato Hiruko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Melton comes to the cage accompanied by The Bouncing Souls- The Gold Song. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hiruko lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Melton looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Melton doesn't manage to clinch there - Hiruko circles away.

Hiruko pushes Melton up against the cage in a clinch.
Hiruko wants a takedown but no success here.

Melton is looking to control Hiruko's arms but Hiruko gets an underhook and turns him. Now Melton has his back to the cage.
Melton with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Hiruko tries to pull guard but Melton holds him up against the cage and eventually Hiruko drops back down to his feet.
Melton lands with a short shot to the head.

It looks like John Melton has been cut.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Melton creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Melton could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Melton blocks a body shot from Hiruko.
Melton lands a hook that snaps the head of Hiruko backwards.

Melton jumps guard but Hiruko stands there with Melton around his waist. Melton gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Melton tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hiruko just stands there and leans against the cage.

Melton pulls guard.
Melton is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Hiruko dives into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hiruko is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Melton looks calm but he's in trouble here. Hiruko gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Melton is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Hiruko lets go of the hold and Melton can pop his arm back in it's socket.
