And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Atkins and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Spartalainen or perhaps it was just good defense by Riddel which made him look bad.

Riddel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Spartalainen on the ground.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Riddel throws a solid leg kick but Spartalainen takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Riddel.
Some bone on bone action there as Spartalainen checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Spartalainen tries to clinch up but Riddel circles away and keeps his distance.
Nice uppercut there from Riddel.
Riddel throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Spartalainen stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Riddel throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Spartalainen looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Riddel connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Spartalainen's hands.
Spartalainen circles away from the clinch attempt
and Spartalainen counters with a nice body shot.
Riddel lands a with a good body shot.
Riddel looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Riddel moves into the clinch.

Riddel breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Spartalainen slips a jab and a cross from Riddel.
Riddel throws a chopping leg kick but Spartalainen manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Riddel scores with the left hand. Spartalainen knows he should have avoided that one.
Spartalainen drops his hands momentarily and Riddel takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Riddel jabs Spartalainen right on the nose. Spartalainen blinks but takes it well.
Riddel feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Spartalainen sprawling to the canvas! Spartalainen rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Riddel finish him?!
Spartalainen is rocked!
Spartalainen takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Riddel steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Spartalainen is out on his feet! Riddel sets himself and nearly takes Spartalainen's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Chruck Riddel!
