PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mauricio Ricardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miroslav Krivanec (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miroslav Krivanec told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Krivanec is looking to clinch but Ricardo is avoiding it.

Ricardo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Ricardo is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Ricardo is taking a breather. Krivanec says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ricardo connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Krivanec's hands.

Krivanec drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Ricardo is trying to control Krivanec's posture but Krivanec avoids it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Krivanec winds up and cracks Ricardo with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Ricardo has hold of Krivanec's hands but Krivanec slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Krivanec seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ricardo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

and Ricardo counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Krivanec's guard now.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Krivanec is looking to sinch up a triangle. Ricardo throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Krivanec's body to avoid the submission. Krivanec has instead reached around Ricardo's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Krivanec arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
