The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson stuffs the takedown.
Johnson moves out of range of the body kick from Smit.
Smit swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Smit doesn't manage to clinch there - Johnson circles away.
A right-left combo lands from Johnson.
It looks like Jantje Smit has been cut.
Smit looks gassed!
Smit circles away from the clinch attempt.
Smit on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Jantje Smit seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Johnson catches Smit napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Smit to the canvas!
Smit looking to hit a scissor sweep but Johnson is one step ahead there.
Johnson chips away with some ground and pound.
Johnson passes Smit's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Johnson working Smit over with strikes.
That has opened up Jantje Smit's cut even more.

Johnson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Johnson working over Smit with some ground and pound. Smit looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The cut above Jantje Smit's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Johnson landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Jantje Smit's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jantje Smit's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
