PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Conlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Sweeney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Conlin comes to the cage accompanied by Eminem The Way I Am. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Kevin Conlin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Fedor Sweeney!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Glass and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Conlin avoids the body shot from Sweeney.

Conlin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sweeney was covering up waiting for the punch and Conlin finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Conlin trying to control the position from guard on top but Sweeney is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Conlin forces his way into half guard.
Conlin is keen to just control but Sweeney is a slippery customer.

Conlin wants to work for an arm triangle but Sweeney is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Conlin throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Sweeney is trying to get back to full guard.
Sweeney tries to kick Conlin off but Conlin keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Sweeney is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Conlin stands up and beckons Sweeney to join him on the feet.
Sweeney misses with a body shot.
Conlin showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sweeney.
Sweeney misses with a wild combination.

Conlin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sweeney looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Conlin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Conlin stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Conlin feints and as Sweeney raises his hands in defense, Conlin changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Conlin prevents Sweeney from getting back to his feet.
Conlin trying to control but Sweeney is working from the bottom.

Conlin is pushing down on Sweeney's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sweeney is fighting to maintain full guard but Conlin has managed to sneak the leg through.

Conlin is working for a kimura but Sweeney is defending it quite comfortably.

Conlin is trying to work for a kimura but Sweeney is defending well.
Sweeney really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Conlin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Conlin moves into full mount! Sweeney won't be happy about that!
Sweeney wants to control but Conlin is having none of it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sweeney can do anything to dispel that myth.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Sweeney stalks Conlin and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Conlin's face. Conlin staggers backwards, shaken.
Conlin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Sweeney wants to clinch.
Sweeney throws a jab but it's blocked by Conlin.

Conlin feints and as Sweeney raises his hands in defense, Conlin changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Conlin trying to control the position from guard on top but Sweeney is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sweeney wants to stand and escape but Conlin is having none of it.

Conlin stands up and waves to Sweeney to follow him.
Sweeney fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Sweeney gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Conlin to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Conlin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Conlin controls from within his opponent's guard.
Sweeney is wriggling around but Conlin manages to pass to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Conlin is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Conlin is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Sweeney can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Conlin get's back to his feet.
Conlin shoots in looking for a takedown. Sweeney tries to sprawl out of it but Conlin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sweeney manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Fedor Sweeney is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Conlin shoots for a takedown but Sweeney saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sweeney misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Sweeney misses with a body shot.
Sweeney misses with a looping right.
Sweeney swinging wilding here.
Conlin closes the distance and clinches up with Sweeney, looking for a takedown. Conlin pushes Sweeney against the cage but Sweeney circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kevin Conlin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sweeney tries to clinch but Conlin moves out of range.
Sweeney scores with a shot to the body.
Sweeney scores with a three punch combo!
Sweeney is breathing heavily.
Conlin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sweeney is fending him off so far but Conlin persists. Nope, Sweeney circles away and we're back to standing.
Conlin fails with a takedown attempt.
Conlin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Sweeney tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Conlin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
No luck for Conlin with that takedown attempt.
Sweeney ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Conlin moves away.
Conlin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sweeney's waist but Sweeney gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Conlin off to one side.
Sweeney swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A combination from Sweeney does no damage.
Conlin ducks under a wild hook from Sweeney.
No joy there for Sweeney, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Conlin throws a series of punches but Sweeney moves out of range.
Sweeney is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Conlin rather than just go for the knockout.
Sweeney throws a left and a right that both miss

and Conlin counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sweeney is not content to let Conlin control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kevin Conlin dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Conlin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Conlin uses his free foot to push down on Sweeney's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Sweeney.

Sweeney takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Sweeney is trying to stand but he's just given Conlin his back.

Conlin has his arm under Sweeney's chin here. Game over son! Conlin squeezes tightly and Sweeney is forced to tap out!
