Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roberto Silva!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Paulo Santos and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Silva drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gracie manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Silva has Gracie in his guard.
Gracie tries to stand but Silva is controlling from the bottom.

Gracie gets to his feet. Silva looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Silva is looking to clinch but Gracie is avoiding it.

Silva closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gracie did well to prevent Silva getting side control.
Silva throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Silva is trying to control. Gracie wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Silva is pressing down on Gracie's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gracie is holding on for now.
Gracie wants to control but Silva is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Silva lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Silva.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Silva is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Gracie gets his way!
Gracie is trying to stick to Silva's back but Silva is turning into Gracie. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Gracie's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Silva.

Silva must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Gracie lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Silva!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Gracie has hold of Silva's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Silva manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silva decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gracie, up you get!

Silva tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Gracie wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Silva has Gracie pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Gracie manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Matt Gracie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roberto Silva.

Silva is fighting off a takedown attempt but Gracie is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Silva to the mat. Silva regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Roberto Silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Silva is working an open guard so Gracie takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Silva shoots in but Gracie avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown but Silva shows good takedown defense.

Silva throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gracie's waist but Gracie gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Silva off to one side.

Gracie bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Silva's guard.

Roberto Silva comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Silva has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
