Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Fresenius James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Red Dawn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Red Dawn is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Red Dawn!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Bruno Lombardi and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Dawn blocks a jab.
James stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
James displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Dawn.
No joy there for James, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and James connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Dawn fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
James scores with a crisp jab that stopped Dawn in his tracks.

James lands with a hook. Dawn tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Dawn shoots in for a double leg but James sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dawn shoots in for a takedown but James shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
James scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Dawn doesn't seem bothered though.

James's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Fresenius James.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for James, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
