PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Bitburger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Severino de Jesus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). de Jesus has chosen Ace of Spades as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Severino de Jesus told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mike Bitburger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Severino de Jesus!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Luis Engracia and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bitburger feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
de Jesus looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
de Jesus wants to get back to his feet but Bitburger is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Bitburger thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Bitburger connects with a couple of short punches.

de Jesus takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Bitburger looking to control but de Jesus is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Bitburger is landing with some decent strikes but de Jesus is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bitburger is going oldschool here, as he tries to force de Jesus to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so de Jesus shrugs it off.

de Jesus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bitburger. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

de Jesus tries to buck Bitburger off but he can't manage it.
Bitburger pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bitburger jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but de Jesus manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Bitburger is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but de Jesus is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
de Jesus takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

de Jesus is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Bitburger asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Bitburger is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. de Jesus looks calm but he's in trouble here. Bitburger gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. de Jesus is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Bitburger lets go of the hold and de Jesus can pop his arm back in it's socket.
