The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jurgen throws a shot to the body.
Jurgen misses with a looping right.
The fighters circling - Machado throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Machado throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Jurgen blocks it with crossed arms.

Jurgen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jurgen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Machado takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Machado wants to clinch but Jurgen slips to the side
and Jurgen counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

It looks like Rickson Machado has been cut.

Jurgen lands a big right hand that sends Machado crashing to the mat! Jurgen stays standing though and waves Machado back to his feet!

Jurgen closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jurgen thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Machado parries the strikes from Jurgen easily there. Jurgen is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Machado to escape.

Jurgen creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Machado is looking for a sweep.

Jurgen wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Machado, who protects the arm well.
Machado sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Jurgen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jurgen swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Machado shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Jurgen counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Paul Jurgen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Machado slips a jab and a cross from Jurgen.
Machado has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jurgen lands a big uppercut and Machado crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Machado looks OK. Jurgen waves Machado back to his feet!
