PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Jedlicka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Anderson Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Derek Jedlicka!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Steve Montenegro and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie throws a head kick that misses.
Gracie keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Jedlicka tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gracie swivels and escapes.

Jedlicka is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Gracie doesn't have the hooks in and Jedlicka manages to turn into his guard.

Jedlicka postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie is pulling down on Jedlicka's head. It's preventing any offense from Jedlicka, at least for the moment.

Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jedlicka gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Jedlicka drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gracie manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jedlicka has Gracie in his guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Gracie gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Gracie tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jedlicka swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Anderson Gracie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Derek Jedlicka.

Gracie stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gracie seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jedlicka for as long as he can get away with.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gracie stalling.
Gracie has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Jedlicka tries to hold on but Gracie postures up.

Anderson Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Gracie breaks from Jedlicka's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Gracie takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jedlicka rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Jedlicka is defending against the submission attempts here by Gracie.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anderson Gracie dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Gracie looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Gracie thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Gracie decides to return to a standing position.
Gracie lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jedlicka circles away quickly and effectively.

Jedlicka closes the distance and pushes Gracie back into the cage.
Gracie stalling.
Gracie jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jedlicka walks away with a smile on his face. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Gracie tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

so Gracie counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gracie is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Jedlicka sees it coming and defends easily.
Jedlicka wants to get back to full guard but Gracie has passed into side control.
Jedlicka is working to get back to half guard.
Jedlicka has given up his back here.
Gracie has good solid back control here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Gracie has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Jedlicka is in real trouble here. Gracie gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Jedlicka is tapping out! Gracie wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Anderson Gracie!
