Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryu Chyn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith comes to the cage accompanied by The Pilgrim by Iron Maiden. Chyn has chosen Infected Mushroom - I wish as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Chyn.
Chyn swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Smith lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Chyn backs up against the cage.

It looks like Ryu Chyn has been cut.
Smith rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Chyn moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Chyn tries for a takedown but Smith sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Chyn shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Smith pinned against the cage. Smith gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
John Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryu Chyn.
Smith lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Chyn looks for a takedown but Smith sprawls well.

Smith tries to bum rush Chyn with a series of wild strikes but Chyn uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Chyn tries to score a power double leg takedown but Smith sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Chyn somewhat.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Chyn slips a jab and a cross from Smith.
Smith looks to land a combination but Chyn avoids it well.

Smith scores with a nice strike.

Chyn gets a takedown into half guard.
Smith is not content to let Chyn control the position.
Chyn uses his free foot to push down on Smith's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Smith.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Chyn swings around for an armbar but Smith sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Chyn's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Chyn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Smith has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Smith lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

That's time! Smith's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Smith throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Smith lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Chyn circles away quickly and effectively.
Smith swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Smith throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Chyn on the side of the head.

Chyn is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Ryu Chyn has got the better of the ground game so far.
Smith has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Chyn is proving hard to escape from.
Chyn wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Smith is now in half guard.

That's time! Smith's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Chyn shoots for a double leg takedown but Smith sprawls well. He's pushed Chyn's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Smith ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Smith with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Smith closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Smith throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Chyn stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Chyn drops his hands momentarily and Smith takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Chyn is wobbling all over the place through exhaustion. Will he make it to the final bell?

Smith lands a left and a right that send Chyn crashing to the mat, dazed. Smith thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Chyn seems to have recovered his senses.

Smith lands a left and a right that send Chyn crashing to the mat, dazed. Smith thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

and Chyn cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Chyn closes this distance looking for a takedown but Smith circles away.
Smith fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Chyn on the side of the head.

Smith connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Smith scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
The fight stays on the outside here - Chyn looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Chyn closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Smith did well to prevent Chyn getting side control.
Chyn is just content to waste time from the top position. Smith takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

The cut above Ryu Chyn's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Smith stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
