Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jakob Van Tripp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Boisvert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jakob Van Tripp has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jakob Van Tripp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Max Boisvert!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tripp gets caught flat footed, as Boisvert shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Tripp wants to sweep but no luck.
Boisvert stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tripp swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Tripp pulls Boisvert in close to prevent any damage.
Boisvert stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tripp swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Tripp looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Tripp looking for a sweep. Not yet Tripp, not yet.
Tripp preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Boisvert trying to control but Tripp is working from the bottom.
Boisvert really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tripp. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Tripp is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Boisvert stays in close to Tripp's body and controls the position.

Boisvert is in close to Tripp's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Tripp throws his legs up looking for a submission but Boisvert uses it to pass to side control.
Boisvert trying to control the position but Tripp is working away.
Boisvert tries to advance to mount but can't.
Boisvert wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tripp keeps working.
Tripp sneaks back into half guard.
Tripp wants to improve his position but Boisvert is controlling well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Boisvert is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Tripp works his way to full guard. Good work.
Boisvert seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Boisvert stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tripp swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Boisvert pushes down on Tripp's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Tripp slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Boisvert working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Tripp's head.
Boisvert trying to control but Tripp is working from the bottom.

Tripp working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Boisvert doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Boisvert manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Boisvert avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Tripp is breathing heavily.

Tripp escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Boisvert gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Tripp can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Boisvert controls the pace.
Tripp keeping full guard, as Boisvert tries to pass.
Tripp has a closed guard, preventing Boisvert from standing up.

Tripp has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Boisvert is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Tripp.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tripp is not content to let Boisvert control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Max Boisvert will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Boisvert gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Tripp to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Boisvert has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tripp can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Boisvert controls Tripp momentarily but Tripp frees himself.

Tripp tries to stand but Boisvert is controlling from the bottom.
Tripp not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Boisvert keeping moving, preventing Tripp from controlling successfully.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boisvert doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Tripp counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Boisvert!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boisvert is wriggling around trying to escape.
Boisvert tries to lock up and control but Tripp gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Tripp takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Tripp has control of Boisvert's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Boisvert regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Boisvert is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Boisvert is looking to get to half guard.
Tripp with a couple of short strikes.
Boisvert tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Tripp in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Boisvert wants to hold on but Tripp pushes him away.

Tripp lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Boisvert is trying desperately to improve position.
A nice elbow there by Tripp.
Tripp pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Boisvert tries to hold on but Tripp pushes him away.
Tripp controlling the position easily from mount.
Tripp landing punches.
Boisvert tries to reverse the position but Tripp maintains control.

Boisvert is desperately trying to improve his position but Tripp has a good base and remains in mount.
Tripp tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Boisvert is in all sorts of trouble here.
Boisvert tries to lock up and control but Tripp gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Tripp closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Boisvert did well to prevent Tripp getting side control.
Tripp wants to take a breather but Boisvert is having none of it.
Boisvert wants to get back to full guard.
Boisvert trying to hold on to Tripp's head to control him but Tripp postures up.

Tripp is pressing down on Boisvert's thigh, looking to free his foot. Boisvert is holding on for now.

Tripp performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Boisvert tries to get to full guard but Tripp has control of the leg.
Boisvert is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Tripp is nestled in close to Boisvert, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Boisvert has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tripp is working away from the top position though.
Boisvert looks like he's trying to stand up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Tripp misses with a takedown attempt

and Boisvert counters by moving into the clinch.
Tripp tries to pull guard but Boisvert won't allow it.
Boisvert wants a takedown but no success here.
Tripp jumps guard but Boisvert stands there with Tripp around his waist. Tripp gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jakob Van Tripp. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Tripp manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Boisvert drops back looking for a leg! Tripp is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tripp manages to kick Boisvert off! Boisvert jumps back into Tripp's guard.
Jakob Van Tripp overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Tripp manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Boisvert tries to hold on but Tripp pushes him away.

Tripp goes for an armbar but Boisvert turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Boisvert.

Jakob Van Tripp showed his dominance in that final round.
