PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Emily Weaver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gronk Groenhud (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Groenhud has chosen Sometime Lonely by Kelly Chen as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Emily Weaver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gronk Groenhud!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Steven Brown and William Gold.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weaver looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Emily Weaver seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Groenhud changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Weaver takes the fight into the clinch.
Groenhud can't break the clinch.
Groenhud wants to get back to striking at distance but Weaver won't allow it.
Groenhud is pressed up against the ropes. Weaver has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Groenhud down to the mat. Groenhud avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Weaver closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Groenhud to the mat! Groenhud manages to get full guard.
Weaver working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Groenhud escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Weaver gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Groenhud is looking for a triangle but Weaver pushes his legs off easily.
Weaver tries to free his leg and advance position but Groenhud is retaining full guard.

Weaver avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Weaver pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Groenhud is keeping the position for now.
Weaver is breathing heavily.

Weaver is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Groenhud is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Groenhud has escaped and now he's on top!

Weaver escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Groenhud gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Weaver throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Groenhud trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Groenhud drops back looking for a leg! Weaver is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Weaver manages to kick Groenhud off! Groenhud jumps back into Weaver's guard.

Weaver looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Weaver has his foot on Groenhud's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Groenhud works his way back into a safe position though.
Weaver is trying to keep Groenhud in close.

Groenhud trying to control the position from guard on top but Weaver is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Weaver is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Weaver isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Groenhud stacks Weaver on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Groenhud!

Groenhud decides to stand up, so the ref orders Weaver to his feet.
Groenhud goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Groenhud keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Emily Weaver. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A nice leg kick lands there from Groenhud.
Weaver could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Groenhud looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Weaver looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Weaver is working for a submission of some sort.
Groenhud wants to improve his position but Weaver is controlling well.

Weaver wants to pass to mount but Groenhud is defending the position.

Weaver is trying for a kimura here. Groenhud looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Weaver wins by kimura!
