These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Metzenkauf throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Metzenkauf stuffs the takedown.
Metzenkauf misses with a head kick.

McFly feints and as Metzenkauf raises his hands in defense, McFly changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Metzenkauf is trying to control the position but McFly postures up.

Metzenkauf looking for submissions from the bottom but instead McFly passes into side control.
Metzenkauf tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but McFly wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Metzenkauf is trying to control the position but McFly postures up.
McFly won't allow Metzenkauf to get back to his feet.

McFly stops Metzenkauf from standing up.
McFly stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Metzenkauf swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
McFly is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Metzenkauf wants to clinch but McFly slips to the side

and McFly counters with a takedown into side control.

It looks like McFly is going to stand back up.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

McFly wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Metzenkauf's closed guard. He's half up but Metzenkauf has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Metzenkauf pivots and extends the arm, McFly falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Metzenkauf! Well done that man!
