PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Albert Wesker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesse Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Allen has chosen Mann gegen Mann by Rammstein as his entrance music. Albert Wesker has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Albert Wesker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jesse Allen!
The judges for this bout are , and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Allen wants to clinch up but Wesker keeps it at a distance.
Allen stuffs the takedown attempt from Wesker. Wesker gets slowly back to his feet.
Wesker fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Allen fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Wesker changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Allen looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Wesker just content to control the position.
Allen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Wesker wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
A lull in the action here as Wesker stalls from top position.

Allen tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Allen is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Wesker with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Wesker wants to free his trapped foot but Allen is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Allen wants to improve his position but Wesker is controlling well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Wesker is controlling the pace.
Allen wants to control but Wesker is keeping busy.
Allen looks gassed!
Wesker lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Allen wants to sweep but Wesker has passed to side control!

Wesker decides to stand back up. Wesker steps back and let's Allen get back to his feet.
Wesker throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Wesker shoots in for a takedown but Allen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Albert Wesker. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Wesker looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Wesker stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Wesker will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Allen keeps the fight on the outside.

Nice takedown defense from Allen. No joy for Wesker on that attempt.

A frustrated look appears on Wesker's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Wesker wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Wesker pulls guard effortlessly.
Wesker utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Wesker is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Wesker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Wesker counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wesker is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Allen doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Wesker.

Wesker is working for a kimura but Allen is defending it quite comfortably.
Allen tries to roll over but Wesker keeps him under control.
Allen is breathing heavily.

Allen is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Wesker scores with a couple of nice shots.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Wesker keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Wesker is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Wesker is taking a breather. Allen says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Wesker decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Wesker looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Allen tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Wesker decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Allen's guard.
Wesker cracks Allen with a solid left hand.
Allen can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Wesker controls the pace.
Wesker's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Albert Wesker just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Wesker pushes Allen up against the cage in a clinch.
Wesker controlling the action here for a moment.
Wesker misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Allen.

Wesker tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Allen avoids it.

Wesker jumps guard and drags Allen to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Wesker is striking but Allen is not phased and passes to half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wesker is trying to stand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wesker is not content to let Allen control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Allen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wesker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Allen is bucking up trying to escape but Wesker cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Wesker takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Wesker is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Allen is surviving well by controlling Wesker's body position as best he can.

Wesker swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Allen is now in Wesker's guard. A big mistake from Wesker there, giving up the dominant position!
Jesse Allen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Allen is fighting to break Wesker's control of his arms but Wesker is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Albert Wesker just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Well Wesker has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
