Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Demian Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rich Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Demian Maia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rich Silva!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Maia as Silva shoots in.
Silva tries to clinch but Maia moves out of range.
Silva is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Maia shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Silva manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Maia is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Silva wants to control but Maia passes easily into half guard.
Maia passes into side control, despite Silva's attempt to control the position.
Maia is looking to take a break and control but Silva is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Maia tries for a kimura but Silva is defending well.
Maia working away.

Maia looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Silva can do anything to dispel that myth.

Maia goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Silva has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Maia but great work by Silva.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Maia is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Maia is looking for a sweep. Silva is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Silva wants to stand but Maia has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Silva is trying to control. Maia wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Maia gets full guard.
Silva looking to pass the guard.
Silva throws a strike but Maia rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Silva wants to stand up but Maia is controlling him.

Maia is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Silva looking to hit a scissor sweep but Maia is one step ahead there.
Silva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Maia. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Silva not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Silva keeping full guard, as Maia tries to pass.

Silva looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Maia circles away from the clinch attempt.
Silva has his takedown stuffed

and Maia counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Silva's guard now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Maia drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Maia jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Maia passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Demian Maia dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Silva with a poor takedown

and Maia counters with a nice double leg into side control. Silva won't be happy with that.

Silva reaches up around Maia's neck trying to control. But Maia takes advantage instantly and he's locked on an arm triangle! Big trouble for Silva! Oh that looks nasty! A human being's head is not meant to turn that color! Silva is out! He's gone limp! The ref steps in to break the fighters up and Maia celebrates the victory with the fans!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Demian Maia!
