PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gui Saint (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathaniel Easter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Easter's choice of entrance music: Puttin' On the Ritz. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gui Saint!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nathaniel Easter!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Saint.
Saint scores with punches from side control.
Easter is pushing Saint's head away, looking to escape. Saint manages to hold on to the position though.
Saint wants to lay and pray for a moment but Easter keeps working.
Easter stops Saint from passing to mount.
Easter parries the strikes from Saint easily there. Saint is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Easter to escape.
Easter is trying to control Saint's posture but Saint avoids it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Easter can do anything to dispel that myth.
Saint throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Saint controls the position from side control.
Easter regains half guard, as Saint was trying to land strikes.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Saint closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Easter did well to prevent Saint getting side control.
Saint throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Easter pushes Saint off and gets back to his feet.

Saint makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Saint postures up and lands a big shot to Easter's brow.
Saint chips away with some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Saint trying to control the position from guard on top but Easter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Saint makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Saint is pushing down on Easter's leg trying to pass to half guard. Easter is fighting to maintain full guard but Saint has managed to sneak the leg through.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Saint lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Saint seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Saint looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Easter is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Saint scores with a couple of nice shots.
Saint looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Easter with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Saint's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Saint is nestled in close to Easter, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Saint is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Saint lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Easter on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!



Saint shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Saint was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Saint pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Easter taking shots to the head.

Easter is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
BOOM! Saint connects with a massive shot to the dome!


Easter is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Saint content just to control the position here.
Easter is still in real trouble! Can Saint finish him?
Saint lands a big elbow - Easter is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Easter is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Gui Saint!
