Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joao Vitor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and So Nguyen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vitor comes to the ring accompanied by Pregador Luo - Apaga Mas Não Bate. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joao Vitor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, So Nguyen!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nguyen is looking to clinch.
Vitor misses the jab.
Nguyen slaps away a takedown attempt from Vitor, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Vitor fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Vitor shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nguyen's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vitor stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nguyen swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Vitor stands and throws Nguyen's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Vitor wants to control for a moment but Nguyen uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Vitor looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Nguyen is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Vitor pulls his head out easily.

Vitor seems to be looking for submissions.
Vitor looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Vitor trying to control the action but Nguyen is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vitor frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Nguyen tries to reverse the position but Vitor maintains control.

Vitor is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Vitor misses the jab.
Jab, jab by Vitor - just one landing.


It looks like So Nguyen has been cut.

Vitor thows a left - swing and a miss!
Nguyen uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Vitor.
Vitor misses with an uppercut. Nguyen saw that one coming.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joao Vitor dominated that round.
The cut man is working on So Nguyen's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Nguyen tries for a takedown but Vitor sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Vitor throws a looping overhand right but Nguyen ducks down to avoid it.

and Nguyen counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Nguyen.

Nguyen drops back looking for a leg! Vitor is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Vitor manages to kick Nguyen off! Nguyen jumps back into Vitor's guard.
Vitor is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Nguyen passes Vitor's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Nguyen is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Vitor doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Nguyen.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Vitor manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Vitor fails with the takedown

and Nguyen counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joao Vitor. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Nguyen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Nguyen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Nguyen won't allow Vitor to sweep him here.

Vitor looking to hit a scissor sweep but Nguyen is one step ahead there.
Vitor is trying to control the position from the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Nguyen looking to pass the guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A slow jab from Vitor misses its intended target.
Nguyen steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Vitor.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

So Nguyen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on So Nguyen's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Vitor avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Vitor closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Nguyen should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Nguyen is not content to let Vitor control the position.

Nguyen is looking for a sweep.

Vitor stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Vitor misses with a straight right.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Vitor looks to land a right hand but Nguyen moved out of range.

Vitor is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Nguyen prevents Vitor from standing back up.

Nguyen is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Nguyen is working for a kimura but Vitor is defending it quite comfortably.
Vitor is pressing down on Nguyen's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Nguyen is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Nguyen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Vitor wants to stand up but Nguyen is controlling him.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Vitor is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Vitor is on top in guard.

Nguyen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vitor doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vitor manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Vitor passes Nguyen's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Well Vitor has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
