PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Squanch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Squanch comes to the cage accompanied by Animal. Coleman is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Home again. Mark Coleman is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sam Squanch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Coleman!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coleman throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Squanch stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Squanch wants it to stay on the feet.
Coleman wants to clinch up but Squanch keeps it at a distance.
Squanch leaves Coleman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Squanch bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Squanch really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Coleman tries to clinch but Squanch is having none of it.
Coleman tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Squanch paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Coleman connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Coleman throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Coleman paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Coleman shoots for a double leg takedown but Squanch sprawls well. He's pushed Coleman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sam Squanch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Coleman.
Coleman is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Squanch.
Squanch thows a body shot but no joy.

Coleman closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Squanch to the mat! Squanch manages to get full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Coleman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Squanch can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Squanch will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Coleman. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Coleman bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Squanch's guard.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Coleman is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Squanch is just riding it out for now. Coleman eventually gives up the hold.
Coleman has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Squanch is staying active underneath Coleman, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

I think Coleman has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
