Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jay Kernes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Badr White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kernes comes into the arena with Reign Supreme - Persevere And Overcome blaring out of the sound system. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jay Kernes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Badr White!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White is looking to slow Kernes down with leg kicks.
White keeps Kernes at a distance using the push kick.
White misses with a head kick.
White scores with a body shot.
White misses with a head kick.
Kernes throws out a loose jab but White uses good head movement to avoid it.
A swing and a miss from White.
Kernes has a takedown stuffed.
White with a poor takedown
and Kernes counters with a three punch combo that has White backing up. White nods at Kernes to acknowledge the strikes.
Kernes is trying hard to land a takedown here. White sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Kernes shoots for a double leg takedown but White sprawls well. He's pushed Kernes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Kernes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kernes slaps away a takedown attempt from White, before circling back to the center of the mat.

White shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than White was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

White swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kernes is now in White's guard. A big mistake from White there, giving up the dominant position!

White looking for a guillotine here but Kernes defends easily.

White looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kernes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for White on the ground.
White looks gassed!
White controls Kernes momentarily but Kernes frees himself.
White wants to sweep but no luck.
Kernes seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

White is looking for a triangle here but Kernes uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Kernes wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by White, who protects the arm well.
White is looking for a sweep.

Kernes decides to stand back up.

White gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kernes to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Kernes pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. White is keeping the position for now.
White is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kernes is controlling him.

Kernes loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

White is looking for a triangle but Kernes pushes his legs off easily.
Kernes has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
White is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
White doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kernes counters with a left and a right that stings White.

Kernes lands a big head kick that sends White tumbling to the mat! Kernes takes a step backwards and waves White back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Badr White has been cut.

Kernes drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kernes won't allow White to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kernes's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
White keeping moving, preventing Kernes from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

White has his foot on Kernes's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kernes works his way back into a safe position though.

White is breathing heavily.

White wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Kernes has dropped down and is working for a takedown. White is trying to keep an underhook but Kernes manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Well, if Kernes is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

White is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kernes content to control rather than advance.
Kernes sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. White defending well though.
Kernes wants to take a breather but White is having none of it.
White wants to improve his position but Kernes is controlling well.
White has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kernes is working away from the top position though.

Nice strikes from Kernes there.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Kernes steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from White. That one must have hurt.
Kernes throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Kernes throws a head kick but White moves out of range.

and Kernes counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for White!
White is looking to get to half guard.
Kernes lands a heavy elbow.
White keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Kernes is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. White can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Kernes with a couple of short strikes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
White tries to reverse the position but Kernes maintains control.
White is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Kernes looking to finish White with some ground and pound. This is bad for White!
White can't escape the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
White takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Kernes looking to control and managing it successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


White tries to clinch but Kernes is having none of it.
Jay Kernes is winning the standup battle so far.
White pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kernes takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
White throws a head kick that misses.
Kernes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. White tries to avoid it but Kernes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag White to the ground. White escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A telegraphed right hand from White misses the target.
Kernes closes the distance and lands a one-two.
White lands with a kick to the temple. Kernes shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
White tries to clinch but Kernes moves away

and Kernes moves into the clinch.

Kernes manages to break the clinch.
Kernes misses with a double jab.
White shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Kernes looks to land a combination but White avoids it well.
Kernes shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Kernes has White pressed against the cage, preventing White from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Kernes takes a shot to the head.
White has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kernes avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Kernes is trying to work for a single leg takedown but White pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Badr White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kernes tries for a takedown but White sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

White lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
White stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and White wants it to stay on the feet.

and Kernes counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Jay Kernes is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
White is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kernes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
White uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kernes.
White throws a sloppy head kick and Kernes moves out of range easily.
Kernes misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Jay Kernes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
White thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Kernes if he has to take too many more of those.
Kernes shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with White but White pushes him off and we're back to square one.
White is looking to clinch.
Badr White has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
White lands with a kick to the temple. Kernes shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Well Kernes has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
