The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
da Silva slips under a jab from Holmes.
Holmes circles away from the clinch attempt.
Holmes keeps the fight on the outside.
da Silva doesn't manage to clinch there - Holmes circles away.
Holmes throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Holmes lands an elbow inside.
Holmes softening up his opponent with strikes, against the ropes.
Holmes managing to block the knees to the body from da Silva.
da Silva throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Holmes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Holmes misses with a body kick.
Holmes scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

da Silva gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Holmes.

Holmes moves into the clinch.
da Silva takes an elbow to the temple.
Holmes lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the ropes.
da Silva looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Holmes content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Holmes breaks the clinch.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Holmes loads up on a big right hand but da Silva slips the punch.

Holmes swings for the body but da Silva moves out of range.
Holmes slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Nice body punch from Holmes.
da Silva looks gassed!
Holmes finds da Silva's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! da Silva flops back against the ropes, eyes gazing into the distance. Holmes lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure da Silva will be OK.
