Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Thaigo Ruiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Slay Sampson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ruiz comes to the cage accompanied by Slayed. Thaigo Ruiz has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sampson doesn't manage to clinch there - Ruiz circles away.
Sampson tries to clinch up.
Sampson is looking to clinch but Ruiz is avoiding it.
Sampson has a takedown stuffed.
Sampson fails with a takedown attempt.

Sampson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Ruiz regains half guard.
Sampson seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Sampson thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Ruiz to regain full guard.
Sampson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Ruiz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sampson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ruiz has his hands on Sampson's head, controlling the position.
Ruiz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Ruiz is looking to sinch up a triangle. Sampson throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Ruiz's body to avoid the submission. Ruiz has instead reached around Sampson's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Ruiz arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
