PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Freddy Kreuger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Ness (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kreuger's entrance music is "I'm Your Boogie Man" by White Zombie. A fine choice. Mike Ness told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Freddy Kreuger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Ness!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kreuger misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ness.
Ness avoids the body shot from Kreuger.
Kreuger is looking to score with low kicks.

Ness shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ness showed some decent athleticism there.
Kreuger wants to control but Ness is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Kreuger gets back to full guard.
Ness trying to control but Kreuger is working from the bottom.
Kreuger wants to sweep here but Ness controlling him for the moment.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kreuger utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Ness misses with an uppercut. Kreuger saw that one coming.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Ness checks a leg kick.
Kreuger steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ness.
Ness blocks a low kick nicely.
Nice sprawl there from Kreuger as Ness shoots in.
Ness misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Kreuger makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Kreuger thows a body shot but no joy.
Ness fails with the takedown
and Kreuger counters with a thumping low kick.

Kreuger gets a clinch.
Kreuger taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Ness takes an elbow to the forehead.


It looks like Mike Ness has been cut.
Ness is trying to break the clinch but Kreuger has him pressed against the cage.
Kreuger has Ness pressed against the cage, preventing Ness from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Kreuger lands an elbow inside.
Kreuger gets underhooks to prevent Ness's takedown attempt.
Freddy Kreuger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Ness.

Kreuger is trying to control Ness's posture but Ness avoids it.
Kreuger tries to bench press Ness off him but Ness keeps the position.
Ness wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kreuger keeps working.
Ness tries to move to mount but Kreuger blocks the move with his legs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Mike Ness's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Kreuger slaps away a takedown attempt from Ness, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Ness jabbing away but nothing is landing.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kreuger. Ness does a little dance to reset his feet.
Ness scores with a nice right hand.
Ness stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Ness throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kreuger was covering up waiting for the punch and Ness finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Kreuger tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ness wants to control from the top but Kreuger keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kreuger is adopting a defensive guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ness pushes down on Kreuger's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Ness wants to pass the guard but Kreuger is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ness drops an elbow to the side of Kreuger's head.
Ness is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Ness trying to control but Kreuger is working from the bottom.
Kreuger manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ness manages to get himself to full guard.
Ness wants to sweep here but Kreuger controlling him for the moment.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ness wants to sweep here but Kreuger controlling him for the moment.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Ness throws a sloppy body shot
and Kreuger counters with a nice leg kick.
Ness connects with a crisp jab.
Kreuger dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Ness. That did some damage!
Ness throws a hook but Kreuger blocks it.
Ness scores with a jab to the jaw.
Ness checks a low kick from Kreuger.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kreuger tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Ness looks to score with a jab to the body but Kreuger is just out of range.
Ness fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Freddy Kreuger will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Mike Ness's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Ness scores with a hook.
Ness throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Ness shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ness was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Kreuger is desperately trying to improve his position but Ness has a good base and remains in mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kreuger tries to hold on but Ness postures up.

Kreuger is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Ness avoids the attempt from Kreuger to control.
Ness prevents Kreuger from getting the reversal.
Ness trying to control but Kreuger is having none of it.
Kreuger is in all sorts of trouble here.
Freddy Kreuger is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ness throws some wild stikes that Kreuger manages to avoid easily.
Kreuger is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Ness with good strikes from the mount here!
Ness wants to control the action but instead Kreuger gets a body lock and reverses into Ness's guard! Nice work!
Ness has his hands on Kreuger's head, controlling the position.
Kreuger stays in close to Ness's body and controls the position.
Mike Ness has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Ness controls Kreuger momentarily but Kreuger frees himself.

Kreuger wants to pass the guard but Ness is keeping the position.
Kreuger is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Kreuger working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kreuger is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Kreuger has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Ness is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Mike Ness comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Kreuger has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
