Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jose Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and macuco piredda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva is looking to clinch.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Silva.
Silva lands a nice forearm strike.
piredda wants to get back to his feet but Silva drags him back down.
piredda is looking for a sweep.
piredda is not content to let Silva control the position.

Silva thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
piredda tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Silva wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
piredda shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Silva defends it nicely.
Silva keeps the fight on the outside.
Silva throws a right hand that piredda ducks under and follows up with a left that piredda also avoids with ease.
piredda shoots for a takedown but Silva saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
piredda uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Silva has time to react.

Silva fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with piredda, pushing him back against the cage.

Silva gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

piredda drops down looking for an ankle pick but Silva pulls his leg out and moves away.

Silva closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming piredda to the mat! piredda manages to get full guard.

Silva connects with a couple of short punches.
Silva is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

macuco piredda showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

piredda has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Silva can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

piredda is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Silva is just riding it out for now. piredda eventually gives up the hold.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jose Silva.
Well Silva has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
