Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh O Neal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gunvald Sorenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Josh O Neal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gunvald Sorenson!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab from O Neal.
O Neal misses the shot to the body.
Sorenson fails in his attempt to clinch.
Sorenson takes one to the side of the head.

O Neal bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Sorenson is looking to regain half guard here but O Neal keeps moving and retains side control.
Sorenson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Sorenson is tying to control. O Neal wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
O Neal is trying to stand back up but Sorenson is controlling him
Sorenson has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Sorenson controlling the pace for now.

Sorenson swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and O Neal is now in Sorenson's guard. A big mistake from Sorenson there, giving up the dominant position!

Sorenson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but O Neal can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Sorenson wriggles free and stands up.
O Neal fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

and O Neal counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

O Neal breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
O Neal fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
O Neal misses with a series of wild punches.

O Neal looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Sorenson looks gassed!
Sorenson is trying to defend against the ground and pound but O Neal scores with a couple of nice shots.
Sorenson tries to regain full guard. Instead though, O Neal has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
O Neal is trying to control here but Sorenson has managed to regain half guard.
Sorenson wants to improve his position but O Neal is controlling well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

O Neal stands up out of the half guard.
O Neal misses with a double jab.
O Neal throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sorenson is looking to chop away at O Neal's legs.
Sorenson takes one on the button.
Sorenson has his takedown stuffed
and O Neal counters with a right hand to the body.
O Neal scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
O Neal throws a body punch but Sorenson moves out of range.
Sorenson scores with a crisp jab that stopped O Neal in his tracks.

and O Neal cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Josh O Neal has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gunvald Sorenson.
Sorenson doesn't manage to clinch there - O Neal circles away.

Sorenson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Sorenson connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused O Neal some visible discomfort.
O Neal could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Sorenson takes a little break here. O Neal wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Sorenson stands up and beckons O Neal to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and O Neal counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Sorenson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Sorenson decides to stand up.

Sorenson clinches up with O Neal and pushes him back against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sorenson goes for a takedown attempt but O Neal pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Sorenson is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Josh O Neal will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Sorenson slips a jab and a cross from O Neal.
Sorenson dodges the punch combination from O Neal.
Sorenson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
O Neal lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

and Sorenson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in O Neal's guard.

O Neal manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Sorenson tries for a takedown but O Neal sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
O Neal lands with a nice combination. Sorenson backs away looking to recover.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A jab-cross combination lands for O Neal and sends Sorenson crashing to the mat! O Neal follows him down to the mat - Sorenson regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


Sorenson is rocked!

O Neal escapes and gets back to his feet.
Sorenson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but O Neal swivels and escapes.

Sorenson wriggles free and stands up.
Sorenson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with O Neal but O Neal pushes him off and we're back to square one.

O Neal controls Sorenson momentarily but Sorenson frees himself.

O Neal is staying active underneath Sorenson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Sorenson slips a nice elbow through O Neal's hands, connecting with O Neal's forehead.
Sorenson is nestled in close to O Neal, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Gunvald Sorenson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Sorenson working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on O Neal's thigh. O Neal counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Sorenson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
O Neal wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Sorenson manages to pass to side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gunvald Sorenson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Sorenson walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

O Neal pushes Sorenson off looking to stand but Sorenson dives back in and keeps control.

Sorenson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but O Neal does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Sorenson is cranking O Neal's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for O Neal! He's tightened the choke and O Neal is tapping out!
