PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sam Stout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Travis Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stout comes to the cage accompanied by How we do. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sam Stout!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Travis Hunter!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Igor Prikhodko and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stout moves in looking to clinch but Hunter pushes him off.
Stout wants to clinch up but Hunter keeps it at a distance.
Stout tries to clinch there but Hunter circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Stout looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Stout tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hunter paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hunter checks a leg kick nicely.
Stout tries to clinch but Hunter moves out of range.
Stout shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hunter but Hunter pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Stout tries to clinch up but Hunter circles away and keeps his distance.

Hunter tries to keep at a distance but Stout has taken the fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stout tries for a takedown but Hunter manages to get underhooks.
Stout pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Hunter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Stout moves out of range of the leg kick from Hunter.
The fight stays on the outside here - Stout looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hunter takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Stout throws a head kick that misses.
Stout moves in looking to clinch but Hunter pushes him off.
Stout really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Hunter avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Stout shoots for a double leg takedown but Hunter sprawls well. He's pushed Stout's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sam Stout. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Stout moves away from the strike by Hunter.
Stout pushes Hunter away with a front kick.
Stout fails in his attempt to clinch.
A head kick misses from Stout.
Sam Stout seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stout tries to clinch but Hunter is having none of it.
Stout is looking to clinch.
Hunter fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Stout wants to clinch.
Stout looks to land a right hand but Hunter moved out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stout fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Hunter on the side of the head.
Nice takedown defense from Stout. No joy for Hunter on that attempt.

Hunter gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Hunter looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Stout wants to get up but he can't break Hunter's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Stout will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hunter is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Hunter wants to pass the guard but Stout is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hunter is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Stout defends it well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hunter wants to work for an arm triangle but Stout is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Hunter looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Hunter prevents Stout from improving his position.

Hunter is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Stout is just riding it out for now. Hunter eventually gives up the hold.
Hunter is looking to advance position but Stout won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hunter passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Stout!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hunter swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Stout is now in Hunter's guard. A big mistake from Hunter there, giving up the dominant position!

Stout wants to stand but Hunter has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Stout dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Stout wants to clinch.
Stout tries to clinch there but Hunter circles away.
Stout tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Hunter takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Stout shoots and misses
and Hunter counters with a straight right hand.
Hunter finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Hunter circles away from the clinch attempt

and Hunter counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hunter advances to half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hunter connects with a nice short shot to Stout's temple.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stout avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hunter.

Hunter is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Stout sees it coming and defends easily.
Stout won't allow Hunter to pass to mount.
Hunter throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hunter connects with a nice short shot to Stout's temple.
Hunter trying to mount his opponent but Stout defends it.
Hunter uses his free foot to push down on Stout's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Stout.
Hunter unloads with some shots from mount but Stout bucks and avoids them well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Hunter quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Hunter but it's paid off an Stout is forced to tap! Nice work by Hunter.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Travis Hunter!
