PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dean Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Ludo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ludo has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Derek Ludo!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Donald Grub and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ludo tries to close the distance and clinch but Williams swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Williams lands a jab.
Williams shoots in but no luck this time.
Williams looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ludo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Williams looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Williams is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ludo doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Williams.

Ludo is looking for a sweep. Williams is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ludo is looking to control Williams's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ludo avoid being mounted?

Williams is pressing down on Ludo's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ludo is holding on for now.

Williams is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ludo is just riding it out for now. Williams eventually gives up the hold.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Williams is trying to work for a kimura but Ludo is defending well.
Ludo is trying to stand.
Williams tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ludo knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Ludo tries to get to full guard but Williams has control of the leg.

Williams is looking for a kimura but Ludo is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Williams to get the leverage.

Williams is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Ludo has managed to free his arm - good work.

Williams wants to pass the guard but Ludo is keeping the position.

Williams has gone for a leg lock! Ludo slips out almost immediately though and dives into Williams's guard.

Williams is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Ludo has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Williams is proving hard to escape from.

Williams had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Ludo is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Williams Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Ludo's back instead.
Williams doesn't have the hooks in and Ludo manages to turn into his guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Williams is on top in guard.
Williams passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Williams thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Williams is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Williams closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ludo circles away.
Ludo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Williams paws at him with a jab and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Williams shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Williams showed some decent athleticism there.
Ludo is breathing heavily.
Williams wants to pass to mount but Ludo is defending the position.

Ludo moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Williams passes Ludo's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Ludo tries to roll over but Williams keeps him under control.
Williams passes to full mount!

Ludo is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Williams working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Ludo looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Williams! Submission of the night perhaps?
