PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Stan Dardey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robushka Sotchik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dardey comes to the cage accompanied by Amazing. Sotchik has chosen I'm a Barbie Girl - AQUA as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stan Dardey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robushka Sotchik!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Donatello Bradman and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dardey gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Dardey misses with a knee to the head.
Sotchik fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Sotchik jumps guard but Dardey stands there with Sotchik around his waist. Sotchik gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Sotchik tries to pull guard but Dardey won't allow it.
Stan Dardey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robushka Sotchik.

Sotchik has hold of one of Dardey's legs. Dardey is fighting the takedown attempt but Sotchik gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Sotchik has gone for a leg lock! Dardey slips out almost immediately though and dives into Sotchik's guard.
Dardey might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Sotchik looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Dardey has picked Sotchik up and slammed him! Sotchik can't keep hold of the triangle and Dardey manages to pass to side control!
Dardey really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Sotchik wants to control but Dardey postures up.
Dardey wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sotchik keeps working.

Dardey has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Sotchik looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Dardey!

Dardey wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Sotchik.
Dardey is looking to improve his position but Sotchik isn't that keen on the idea.

Sotchik is working for a guillotine from mount but Dardey frees his head quite easily.
Sotchik looks gassed!

Sotchik swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Dardey is now in Sotchik's guard. A big mistake from Sotchik there, giving up the dominant position!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sotchik can do anything to dispel that myth.
Dardey wants to control from the top but Sotchik keeps moving.

Sotchik has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dardey can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Dardey is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Sotchik working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dardey doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dardey manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Sotchik escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dardey gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Stan Dardey will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A right-left combo lands from Dardey.
Sotchik misses with a takedown attempt - Dardey sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Sotchik shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dardey as he jumps to the side.
A slapping leg kick lands for Dardey.
Dardey closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sotchik circles away.
Dardey is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Sotchik is breathing heavily.
Dardey wants to clinch up but Sotchik keeps it at a distance.

Dardey closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Dardey content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sotchik is trying to escape the position but Dardey is controlling the position.
Sotchik is looking to regain half guard here but Dardey keeps moving and retains side control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sotchik circles away from the clinch attempt.
Dardey closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Robushka Sotchik seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dardey lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Sotchik with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Dardey to score with a decent uppercut.
Dardey sizes up Sotchik with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Dardey throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Dardey throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sotchik shoots and misses
and Dardey counters with a big head kick but Sotchik shrugs it off.

Dardey lets loose with a powerful body kick. Sotchik will feel that in the morning.
Dardey works over Sotchik's head and body with a nice combination.
A head kick from Dardey lands but Sotchik takes it in his stride.
Stan Dardey is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Dardey lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Sotchik backs up against the cage.
Dardey displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.

Dardey throws a head kick that Sotchik semi-blocks.
Dardey lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Dardey fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Dardey turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Sotchik has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

and Dardey counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Sotchik!
Sotchik is squirming around, avoiding Dardey's attempts to control the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stan Dardey dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

and Dardey counters with a three punch combo that has Sotchik backing up. Sotchik nods at Dardey to acknowledge the strikes.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Dardey decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Sotchik, up you get!

Sotchik closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Dardey shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sotchik defends it nicely.
Dardey connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Dardey works over Sotchik's head and body with a nice combination.
Dardey throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sotchik.
Dardey lands a two punch combo.
Sotchik takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Dardey closes the distance and clinches.
Sotchik tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Dardey smiles and moves away.

Dardey throws a right and a left that both miss.
Sotchik has his takedown stuffed

and Dardey counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Sotchik is not content to let Dardey control the position.
Dardey works his way into full mount!

Dardey avoids the attempt from Sotchik to control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sotchik is working to get back to half guard.
Sotchik is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Stan Dardey is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Dardey tries to control but Sotchik wriggling away.
Robushka Sotchik has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Dardey has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
