The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
woodhead fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Mode misses with a jab, cross combination.
Mode rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but woodhead moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Mode closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming woodhead to the mat! woodhead manages to get full guard.
woodhead wants to get back to his feet but Mode is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
woodhead is wriggling around but Mode manages to pass to half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
woodhead is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

woodhead bucks up and tries to throw Mode off but instead Mode has got his back!
woodhead controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.

Mode's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
woodhead looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.

Mode stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mode wants it to stay on the feet.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
