Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cedrick Barrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Lanza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joe Lanza acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Barrera.
Lanza is looking for a sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Barrera stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Lanza displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Barrera.

Lanza looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Barrera!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Lanza cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Barrera sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Lanza has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Lanza is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Barrera is just riding it out for now. Lanza eventually gives up the hold.

Barrera kicks Lanza off and gets back to his feet.

Barrera wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Lanza shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Barrera's guard.

Barrera is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Barrera is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Lanza gets control of Barrera's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lanza will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Lanza is looking for a triangle but Barrera pushes his legs off easily.
Barrera working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Lanza's head.

Barrera drops back looking for a leg! Lanza is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lanza manages to kick Barrera off! Barrera jumps back into Lanza's guard.
Barrera has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Lanza is proving hard to escape from.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Barrera bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lanza's guard.

Barrera has gone for a leg lock! Lanza slips out almost immediately though and dives into Barrera's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lanza wants to control from the top but Barrera keeps moving.

The fight stays on the outside here - Lanza looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Barrera throws a right and a left that both miss.

Barrera fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lanza sprawls well initially but Barrera persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Lanza is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Barrera is tapping! Great win for Lanza!
