PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Henk De Vries (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tuck Happiness (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). De Vries comes into the arena with EXODUS - Throwing Down blaring out of the sound system. Happiness has chosen Bullet With a Name on It as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Henk De Vries!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tuck Happiness!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Sosuke Kotani and Yasuomi Hirokawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Vries misses with an uppercut. Happiness saw that one coming.
De Vries lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
De Vries dodges the punch combination from Happiness.
De Vries throws a leg kick but Happiness checks it.
Happiness takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
De Vries turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
De Vries dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Happiness. That did some damage!
Happiness closes the distance and clinches up with De Vries, looking for a takedown. Happiness pushes De Vries against the ropes but De Vries circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Henk De Vries seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
De Vries leaves Happiness with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
De Vries throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Happiness checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
De Vries swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
De Vries feints and then cracks Happiness's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Happiness down.
De Vries throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Happiness stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
De Vries throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
De Vries dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Happiness looks gassed!
This has been an exciting period of action!
De Vries's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and De Vries duly obliges.
De Vries punishes Happiness's body with a nice straight punch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
De Vries throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Happiness stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from De Vries.

De Vries closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
De Vries winds up and cracks Happiness with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Happiness is rocked!
De Vries working Happiness over with strikes.
Happiness is still in real trouble! Can De Vries finish him?
Happiness on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
De Vries will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

De Vries lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
De Vries lands a big elbow - Happiness is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for De Vries!
