PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between robbie silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and jens pulver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). pulver comes into a darkened arena with his song building. littlle evil kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! robbie silva has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, robbie silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of London, jens pulver!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Steven Brown and James Ackerman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
pulver looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
pulver tries to bum rush silva with a series of wild strikes but silva uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
silva avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
pulver throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around silva's waist but silva gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing pulver off to one side.
pulver tries to close the distance and clinch but silva swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
pulver lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but silva circles away quickly and effectively.

silva has taken the fight to the clinch.

silva gets control of pulver's arms and successfully pulls guard. silva will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
pulver throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as silva works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

silva really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
pulver wants to control from the top but silva keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
silva manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. pulver manages to get himself to full guard.
silva will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

pulver is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

silva gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
silva not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
silva wants to free his trapped foot but pulver is holding on for dear life with his legs.
pulver wants to control but silva is keeping busy and won't allow it.
silva prevents pulver from improving his position.
pulver makes his way to full guard. A much better position for pulver.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
pulver will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
silva forces his way into half guard.
pulver wants to get back to full guard.
silva is stalling here. pulver is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! silva seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and pulver has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

pulver decides to take the fight back to the feet.
pulver looks gassed!
pulver shoots in looking for a takedown. silva tries to sprawl out of it but pulver keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. silva manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
robbie silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of jens pulver.
pulver tries to clinch but silva moves away
and silva counters with a nice body kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

silva gets the takedown into side control.
pulver is trying to get back to half guard.

silva has an Americana. pulver didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! silva is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if silva hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). robbie silva!
