The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Halkias leaves Garfunkel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Halkias scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Garfunkel to see if he's OK.
Halkias is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Garfunkel's shoulder. That is not cool.
Halkias's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee asks Halkias politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Halkias prefers to stall for the moment though.
Halkias has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Garfunkel is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Halkias yanks on the arm and Garfunkel is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Halkias.
