The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

champion throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. silva was covering up waiting for the punch and champion finishes the takedown easily into guard.
silva looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
champion wants to stand but silva has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
silva wants to stand and escape but champion is having none of it.
champion wanted to stand there but silva had control of the position.

champion gets to his feet - silva follows without any prompting.

champion closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

silva shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches champion napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

silva bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

champion escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. silva gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

champion working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. silva doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. silva manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

champion has his foot on silva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. silva works his way back into a safe position though.

champion wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
