PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Wolf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaiden Costa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Jack Wolf has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jack Wolf seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Wolf!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jaiden Costa!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Eliza Hachem and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wolf shoots in for a takedown but Costa shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Costa.
Wolf stuffs the takedown.
Wolf listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.


It looks like Jaiden Costa has been cut.
Costa throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Wolf throws a right and a left that both miss.

Wolf closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Wolf is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Costa is just riding it out for now. Wolf eventually gives up the hold.

Wolf is trying to work for a kimura but Costa is defending well.
Wolf wants to lay and pray for a moment but Costa keeps working.
Costa has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Wolf is working away from the top position though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Costa is pressing down on Wolf's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Wolf in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Costa is trying to control the position but Wolf postures up.
Costa looks gassed!
Wolf stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Costa swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Costa is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Wolf misses with a wild combination.

Wolf shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Wolf was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Wolf is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Costa is surviving well by controlling Wolf's body position as best he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wolf tries to control but Costa wriggling away.

Wolf is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Costa can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Costa is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Costa takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Wolf landing shots from mount.

Wolf swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Costa is now in Wolf's guard. A big mistake from Wolf there, giving up the dominant position!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Costa would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Costa cracks Wolf with a solid left hand.
Costa looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Wolf working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Costa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Costa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Wolf throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Costa escapes and throws Wolf's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Costa trying to control the action but Wolf is working from the bottom.
Wolf gets back to half guard.

Wolf looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Wolf dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jaiden Costa's cut.
That's time! Wolf's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Costa just misses with a punch to the body.
Costa displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Wolf throws out the jab.
Wolf fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Wolf tries for a takedown but Costa sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Wolf looks for a takedown but Costa sprawls well.
Costa tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wolf swivels and escapes.
Wolf throws a right and a left that Costa avoids nicely.
Costa tries to clinch but Wolf moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Costa misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Costa looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Costa dodges the punch combination from Wolf.

Wolf bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wolf controlling the position.

Wolf tries for a kimura but Costa is defending well.
Wolf wants to take a breather but Costa manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Wolf.

Wolf drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Costa manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Wolf has Costa in his guard.
Costa passes Wolf's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Costa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wolf. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Costa working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Costa is trying to control the action in half guard but Wolf is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Wolf is pressing down on Costa's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Costa must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Costa wants to pass the guard but Wolf is keeping the position.

Costa is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Wolf has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Costa is looking to defend but Wolf has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Costa! Wolf pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Costa taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jack Wolf!
