Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Alvaro Basurto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Stewart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Basurto comes to the cage accompanied by Ozzy Osbourne - No More Tears. Alvaro Basurto has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eric Stewart!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Basurto scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Basurto wants to work for an arm triangle but Stewart is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Basurto wants to pass to mount but Stewart is defending the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Basurto takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Stewart has his takedown stuffed

so Basurto counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Stewart is trying to keep Basurto in close.
Basurto missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Basurto gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Basurto shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Stewart looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Stewart makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Stewart.
Basurto with a flurry of punches that miss.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Basurto takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Stewart fakes the leg kick and cracks Basurto in the body.

Stewart controls Basurto momentarily but Basurto frees himself.

Basurto slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Basurto missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Stewart can't keep his opponent in guard - Basurto advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Stewart wants to improve his position but Basurto is controlling well.
Stewart is looking to control Basurto's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Stewart avoid being mounted?
Basurto will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Basurto tries to pass the half guard into mount. Stewart knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Stewart had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Basurto is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Stewart Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Basurto's back instead.

Stewart is controlling the position but Basurto somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.

Stewart is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Stewart wants to lay and pray for a moment but Basurto keeps working.

Basurto throws a low kick but it's checked well by Stewart.
Stewart pulls out of a head kick attempt.

and Basurto counters with a nice double leg into side control. Stewart won't be happy with that.

Basurto tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Basurto postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Basurto wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Stewart, who protects the arm well.

Basurto tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Basurto has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Stewart is looking to regain half guard here but Basurto keeps moving and retains side control.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Stewart is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Basurto's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Basurto's back!

Basurto prevents any damage by holding on tight.
Basurto sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Basurto is refusing to be controlled, as Stewart sits in half guard.
Stewart wants to get back to his feet.
Basurto is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Basurto flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Basurto, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
